And for the brief encounter with reality

You know, it is much easier to orchestrate your life online as compared to real life. One click, and the person that has been mean or rude or just plain uncomfortable to be around with no longer has access to your online diary.
It is not about preserving the peace or being polite, it is just I have reached a point in my life where I feel the manners one would use to converse with someone in the big real world don't really matter much when this person has access to information you only want the people you feel close to, to know. That list of close people includes those continents away, but as of now lacks someone I know in real life.
I am not sure if this person wants to be mentioned since they will probably receive the email notification. However, this is the explanation of my actions:
I have difficulty counting someone who has consistently been rude to me and has made assumptions about me to others without checking if that is indeed what happened. This to me denotes a lack of maturity that I do not appreciate. I do not want to meet with my LJ friends with an expectant feeling that after simply being polite I am brushed off like dirt thus spoling my enjoyment of seeing my other friends.
I do not see you often enough and do not communicate with you in real life to deserve such a treatment. This is a purely a real life situation, my defriending is simply my wish for you to be denied access to my private life online. I actually feel better, knowing that when we meet at a mutual function I have the option to politely ignore you and I hope you will do the same.
I think I have stated my reasons clearly enough. To our mutual friends, I am truly sorry for the inconvenience.
